YouTube Tips & Tricks

As I get ready to conduct a workshop on YouTube at one of my high schools, I thought it would be a good idea to share the resources here as well. I think a lot of teachers go to YouTube, conduct a search based on a topic and simply click play on a video...that's it. If they want to show that video again, they either bookmark the sight or re-search the topic.

There are a few tips and tricks you can learn to help make using YouTube much more efficient and productive...check out this handout to see not only what tips and tricks you can do, but also some recommendations of channels to subscribe to:

Some Quick Tips:
  • Use the spacebar to start and stop a video
  • Use your right and left arrow keys to fast forward and rewind a video
  • Use your up and down arrow keys to increase or decrease the volume
  • Right-click on the timeline where you want the video to start and choose "copy video at current point", then paste into a new browser window.
